A Message from the Composer

Whether you are directing a developing ensemble, leading a community music program, or simply looking for the perfect solo or duet to play with a friend or perform at a senior recital, I want you to know my work is dedicated to you. My mission is to provide you with accessible, high-quality, and sophisticated repertoire that fits perfectly into your band room or onto your music stand. 

My own musical foundation was built in the rural program of Woodville, California. Growing up playing under the incredible mentorship of Mr. Glen Gilden and Mr. Dale Anderson ignited a lifelong passion in me. It taught me firsthand how vital it is for community music programs and developing musicians to have access to great music, regardless of their size or resources. 

I later refined my craft at CSU Fresno, studying under the guidance of Dr. Lawrence P. Sutherland, Dr. Gary P. Gilroy, and Dr. Michael Caldwell. These mentors helped me realize my true calling: bridging the gap between collegiate-level musicality and the practical, everyday needs of your classroom and performance space.

That is the driving force behind Ricardo Stevens Music. When I sit down to write, I focus on creating pieces that feature flexible textures and are designed to help musicians grow. My ultimate goal is to empower players of all levels to build their confidence, develop their unique sound, and perform with the pride of world-class musicians.
